Top Hydration Tips
We all have probably heard before that hydration is key to maintaining a radiant and youthful complexion, but what does it actually mean?
There are multiple benefits to staying hydrated – both inside and outside!
Below are our top 4 tips and why you should follow them:
First and probably the most important one – drinking water! Sounds basic, but there are numerous benefits to simply drinking enough water on daily basis. To name a few, it helps “regulate body temperature, keep joints lubricated, prevent infections, deliver nutrients to cells, and keep organs functioning properly,” according to Harvard University’s T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Not to mention the fact that being hydrated improves ones sleep quality, mood and skin condition! If you do not find plain water refreshing enough, try adding low-calorie flavour to it such as lemon, mint or cucumber.
Secondly, include foods that are rich in water and electrolytes into your everyday diet. In theory, most fresh fruit and vegetables have a high water content, however the following are especially high – watermelon, cucumber, carrots, peaches, bananas, grapefruit, tomatoes, beans and avocado. Next time you think about a snack, pack one of the above to stay extra hydrated!
Once we are hydrated from the inside out, it’s time to match this with some outside hydration. A proper skincare routine is super important to keep the skin hydrated and plump throughout the day. Whether you have dry skin or oily, Hyaluronic Acid should always be part of your skincare routine. Not only does it hydrate, but also has anti-ageing and firming benefits! However, there is a technique for applying it properly to reap the benefits. As Hyaluronic Acid works by holding the water on your skin, it needs a damp surface to work with. Once you have cleansed your face, leave it slightly damp and apply Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Serum straight on. Lastly, don’t forget about your body skincare routine! As much as we love to take care of our face, most people tend to neglect the rest of the body when it comes to hydration. We know how tempting it can be to use really hot water in the shower (especially in winter), however, that can result in drying out your skin over time. Choose warm water when you can and during warmer months try and rinse with a cold stream just before you pop out of the shower. If you tend to have drier skin, opt for a cleansing oil rather than a foaming body wash. That will provide a much gentler cleanse and will leave your skin super soft too! Lastly, do not skip moisturising. As we spoke about applying Hyaluronic Acid on damp skin, same goes for moisturising your body. Apply moisturiser just as you step out of the shower to help trap in that water and moisture. If you tend to have drier skin or you get drier during winter months, lock your moisturiser with a body oil.
